Hello! How are you doing? I hope you are doing well where ever you are.
2020 has been off to a rough start and looking back, my last post here was four days after New Year’s Day in which, I was completely ignorant of what the next few months have in store and I was full of enthusiasm to visit new and exciting places for the new year.
Similar to most, all my planned travels for the year were canceled after the pandemic was declared, hence, making me decide to rest this blog for a while and stay at home until it is safe to go out there again and travel. And in the midst of the ‘hibernation’, I found myself rekindling some old hobbies and making non-travel videos again.
Inspired by the ‘stories’ I’ve encountered during the previous years and some works of David Fincher, Terrence Malick and Wong Kar Wai, Sonder is my second quarantine short film that tackles about the ‘other’ lives that we briefly take part in–a concept that has sat in my head for a few years like a parasite and has been itching me ever since until I execute it and tell it to others–a personal rendition of the genius “Magnetic” soundtrack of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross popularized in the in The Social Network (2010).
Honestly, creating this short was more challenging that I’ve expected, keeping me frustrated for being stuck in a rut for weeks during conceptualization, browsing through five-year-old media folders in my computer, doing 20+ recording takes for voiceover and rendering almost 11 hours in post-production. But just like what the famous saying goes, “No pain, no gain”, and all the efforts were realized worthy upon seeing what I wanted to see.
Feel free to give the video some love if you liked it and criticisms on what you think could have been improved. 💛
‘Til then, see you in my first travel post after this pandemic! X

Any thoughts?
